Welcome to Year 5

 

Welcome to a new academic year in Year 5 and Upper Key Stage Two. We are looking forward to a productive and enjoyable year.

 

This year, we have some exciting learning in store!

 

In Science, we are learning about properties and changes in material which involves some exciting experiments! Geography involves map reading and learning about the fantastic human and physical places around the globe. We also have The Forge joining us for photography lessons this half term.

 

In English, we will explore exciting class texts by authors such as Lewis Carroll, Louis Sachar and Elizabeth Laird. At the end of the day, we will be reading Kensuke’s Kingdom by Michael Morpurgo. In maths, we are learning multiplication and division followed by year 5 fraction unit.

 

PE is timetabled for Thursday afternoons so please make sure your children have a pair of trainers in school. The rest of the PE kit will be provided by the school.
