Welcome to Class 3N

Year 3 staff are Mrs Napier and Mrs Dunne.

We are so excited for your children to start their learning journey with us. We hope they develop their determination, resilience and learning whilst having plenty of fun along the way! This term we are reading ‘Stone Age Boy’ by Satoshi Kitamura. The book is linked with our History topic of the Stone Age and our Art topic of cave paintings.

Here are a few things to remember for the Year 3 children:

PE is every Wednesday. Please can children bring their PE shoes in and keep them in school where possible. We are developing our co-ordination and teamwork skills. We will also be working on our gross and fine motor skills and inner core in order to support your child in other areas of their learning.

Reading books and records must be brought into school daily. Your child should read with an adult at home at least three times a week.

Spellings will go out on Mondays to be practised for a test on Friday.

TT Rockstars, Lexia or Reading Plus is also available to log on at home.

In Science, we are learning about properties and changes in material which involves some exciting experiments! Geography involves map reading and learning about the fantastic human and physical places around the globe. We will also be learning about Early Civilizations in History.

In English, we will explore exciting class texts by a range of authors such as David Almond, Elizabeth Laird and Grahame Baker Smith, we will be using these texts to influence our writing. In maths, we will be extending our fluency and problem-solving skills, and the use of the four operations.
