Welcome to Class 3PB

Welcome to Year 3!

We are so excited for your children to start their learning journey with us. We hope they develop their determination, resilience and learning whilst having plenty of fun along the way! This term we are reading ‘There’s a Pharaoh in our Bath!’ by Jeremy Strong. The book is linked with our History topic of Ancient Egypt and our Art topic of making Egyptian scrolls. The text discusses the resurrection of an ancient pharaoh, Sennapod, in modern day society. It produces lots of laughs and facts about Ancient Egyptian kings and queens. Year 3 will be exploring “making decisions” themselves during their PSHCE lessons this term. They will learn about different responsibilities which will prepare them for their second year within the junior school.

Here are a few things to remember for the Year 3 children:

PE is every Tuesday. Please can children bring their PE shoes in and keep them in school where possible. We are developing our co-ordination through invasion games such as netball as well as other team games and individual sports. We will also be working on our gross and fine motor skills and inner core in order to support your child in other areas of their learning.

Reading books and records must be brought into school daily. Your child should read with an adult at home at least three times a week.

Spellings will go out on Mondays to be practised for a test on Friday. We will work on a spelling rule for two weeks at a time.

Children are given CGP workbooks for their maths and English homework, these will be sent home each Thursday and should be returned to school the following Tuesday. Should the children find any homework difficult, they are welcome to bring their workbooks

in on Mondays to work with an adult. Should your child wish to do any further work, they can log onto TT Rockstars, Lexia or Reading Plus.
