Welcome to Year 5

 

Welcome to a new academic year in Year 5 and Upper Key Stage Two. We are looking forward to a productive and enjoyable year.

 

This year, we have some exciting learning in store!

 

In Science, we are learning about properties and changes in material which involves some exciting experiments! Geography involves map reading and learning about the fantastic human and physical places around the globe. We will also be learning about Early Civilizations in History.

 

In English, we will explore exciting class texts by a range of authors such as David Almond, Elizabeth Laird and Grahame Baker Smith, we will be using these texts to influence our writing. In maths, we will be extending our fluency and problem-solving skills, and the use of the four operations. 

 

PE is timetabled for Thursday afternoons so please make sure your children have a pair of trainers in school. The rest of the PE kit will be provided by the school.
