Welcome to Class 5P

Welcome to a new academic year in Year 5 and Upper Key Stage Two. We are looking forward to a productive and enjoyable year.

 

This year, we have some exciting learning in store. In Science, we will learn about various aspects of space. History will begin with the study of Early Islamic Civilisation. In English, we will explore exciting class texts by authors such as Lewis Carroll, Louis Sachar and Elizabeth Laird. At the end of the day, we will be reading Kensuke’s Kingdom by Michael Morpurgo. Maths begins with place value, followed by the four operations and then onto my favourite: fractions!

 

PE is timetabled for Friday afternoons and requires that children keep a suitable pair of PE shoes in school. The rest of the PE kit will be provided by the school.

 

We have some wonderful school trips planned in Year 5 including to Beamish Museum, The Great North Museum and a local synagogue.
